Home Repairs
Welcome to Rebuilding Together Oakland. We are
a non-profit organization that will repair your home at no cost to
you if you qualify as a low-income homeowner. The work is primarily
done by volunteers and is paid for by donations from businesses,
civic organizations, churches and individuals. All repair
work is done in the month of April each year.
Application for Home Repairs
Application for
Home Repairs (Spanish)
Applications are accepted year-round and are due by October 14,
2011 to be considered for repairs in April 2012. We
receive many more applications than we can accept into the current
year's program. We encourage you to review how our Safe at
Home and Energy Efficiency pages as these services might be of help
to you.
To be eligible for home repairs, you must:
- Own and live in your house (having a mortgage is okay)
- Live in the City of Oakland
- Be low-income according to HUD guidelines*
- Be at least 62, disabled, a grandparent raising grandchildren,
a caregiver of a disabled or chronically ill family member or a
veteran
- Be current with your mortgage and real estate taxes.
Also:
- We encourage you to have all able-bodied family members and
friends work alongside our volunteers if your home is
selected.
- We cannot guarantee that all repairs requested will be
addressed; we will do all that we can given the funds, materials,
and skills of our volunteers.
If you believe you or someone you know is eligible for our
program, we encourage you to download and fill out the
application. It is important that you complete the entire
application and attach the requested documents prior to mailing it
to our office.
