“No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.”

Move About Your Home Safely and with Confidence!

The Safe at Home program performs modifications and minor repairs in the house so homeowners can move about their home safely. Modifications include grab bars, raised toilet seat adapters, shower stools, handheld showers, stair railings, smoke, fire and carbon monoxide detectors. These modifications are performed year-round.

Call (510) 625-0316 ext 104 or email mail to: sonia@rtoakland.org
if you or someone you know needs this service.

Call Before You Fall!

Minor modifications may create safer home conditions for you that will result in fewer falls and increased independence. We know that you want to live in your home and how important it is to feel safe and confident when you move around your home.

Falls are the leading cause of death from injuries among older persons.

Please call today!

To be eligible for the safety modifications and minor repairs, you must:
  • Own and live in your house (having a mortgage is okay)
  • Live in the City of Oakland, Piedmont, Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and Hayward
  • Be low-income according to HUD guidelines*
  • Be at least 62, disabled, or a caregiver of disabled family members

Wheelchair Ramps

We install wheelchair ramps and lifts depending on the availability of funding.

If you believe you or someone you know is eligible for our program, we encourage you to download and fill out the application.
